Our Mission
The Asheville City Schools Alumni Center is dedicated to fostering a lifelong connection among alumni, preserving the rich history of our schools, and facilitating meaningful class reunions. We strive to build a vibrant network of graduates, celebrate our shared heritage, and support the ongoing success of our community through engagement, collaboration, and the celebration of Cougar pride.
About Us
The Asheville City Schools Alumni Center was established in 2007 to preserve the history of ACS and honor its graduates, educators, and supporters since 1887. The center was initiated by former ACS Chief Financial Officer Tim Amos and was exclusively managed by him and Tom Williams, former AHS Art History teacher, until the fall of 2017. Since 2018, the Asheville City Schools Foundation has been supporting and organizing alumni events, maintaining the ACS alumni website, and overseeing the physical space.
What we do
At the ACS Alumni Center, we are dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the lifelong connections between our graduates and the school. We coordinate a vibrant alumni network, organizing events and networking opportunities that bring together former classmates and foster a sense of community. Our team is also instrumental in planning class reunions, working closely with alumni to create memorable and personalized gatherings that celebrate shared experiences and rekindle old friendships.
In addition to nurturing relationships, the ACS Alumni Center is committed to preserving the rich history of our institution. We manage and display a collection of historic memorabilia and yearbooks, providing alumni and visitors with a tangible link to the past. Our efforts also extend to recognizing and celebrating the successes of our alumni, showcasing their achievements through various platforms to inspire current students and fellow graduates. Through these activities, we ensure that the legacy of ACS continues to thrive and that every alumnus feels valued and supported.
